Arlo Parks has unveiled her second studio album, ‘My Tender Machine’.
The 22-year-old singer – who gained the 2021 Mercury Prize with ‘Collapsed in Sunbeams’ – will launch the follow-up on Could 26, and has given followers a style of what is to return with the ethereal lead single, ‘Weightless’.
Talking of the which means behind the monitor, she mentioned: “’Weightless’ surrounds the painful expertise of caring deeply about somebody who solely offers you tiny breadcrumbs of affection. It’s about instantly realising that an individual has dulled your edges and embarking on the sluggish journey again to being a brighter model of your self.”
Arlo explores some darkish topics on the emotional LP, together with “mid-20s nervousness, the substance abuse of mates round me, the viscera of being in love for the primary time, navigating PTSD and grief.”
She shared: “The world/our view of it’s peppered by the most important issues we expertise – our traumas, upbringing, vulnerabilities nearly like visible snow. This report is life via my lens, via my physique – the mid-20s nervousness, the substance abuse of mates round me, the viscera of being in love for the primary time, navigating PTSD and grief and self-sabotage and pleasure, transferring via worlds with marvel and sensitivity – what it’s wish to be trapped on this specific physique. There’s a quote from a Joanna Hogg movie referred to as the ‘Memento’, it’s an A24 semi-autobiographical movie with Tilda Swinton – it recounts a younger movie scholar falling in love with an older, charismatic man as a younger movie scholar then being drawn into his dependancy – in an early scene he’s explaining why individuals watch movies – ‘we don’t need to see life as it’s performed out we need to see life as it’s skilled on this comfortable machine.’ So there we’ve it, the report is known as …. ‘My Tender Machine’.”
Phoebe Bridgers is featured on the monitor ‘Pegasus’, the one duet on the 12-track LP.
