“Will we shock you?”
Schmigadoon! raised the curtain on its season 2 trailer Wednesday (March 8), and it’s filled with intercourse, sass and, properly, all that jazz.
Because the two-minute teaser opens, Cecily Robust’s Melissa and Keegan-Michael Key’s Josh are again from the magical, musical land of Schmigadoon!, trapped within the day by day humdrum of their lives. “It appears like we must be happier,” the Saturday Evening Reside alum laments. “I would like Schmigadoon! Joyful folks and vivid colours!”
Nevertheless, when the pair go off seeking the city from season 1, they get greater than they bargained for by stumbling into Schmicago — a racier, seedier metropolis impressed by Broadway’s Chicago that comes full with a feisty narrator portrayed by Titus Burgess.
“Clearly we’re within the subsequent period of musicals right here,” Robust explains to a baffled Key. “These musicals are darker with extra intercourse and violence. … How are we alleged to make a cheerful ending right here? These musicals don’t have glad endings!” (Cue Key locked up in a jail cell for the homicide of a refrain woman and Robust performing a slinky faucet quantity in handcuffs.)
Different well-known faces in season 2 of the Apple TV+ collection are Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Ariana DeBose, Jane Krakowski, Ann Harada, Martin Brief, Dove Cameron and Aaron Tveit, who seem to satirize Broadway favorites from Cabaret and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Road to Hair (“Feels like somebody wants a lesson within the energy of happiness; who needs to get bare?”).
The second season of Schmigadoon! is about to premiere April 5 on Apple TV+. Try the music-filled trailer beneath.
