The seminal musician – who was the bassist of the legendary Manchester group The Smiths – has handed away on the age of 59, following a prolonged battle with pancreatic most cancers, along with his guitarist and childhood good friend Johnny Marr confirming the unhappy information on Friday (19.05.23).

Tributes proceed to flood in for Andy.
Drummer Mike, 59, declared that his “musical legacy” won’t ever die.
He tweeted: “Not solely probably the most proficient bass participant I’ve ever had the privilege to play with however the sweetest, funniest lad I’ve ever met. Andy’s left the constructing, however his musical legacy is perpetual. I miss you a lot already. Perpetually in my coronary heart mate.”
On the time of writing, frontman Morrissey, 63, is but to pay his respects publicly.
Former Stone Roses frontman Ian, 60, who had Andy play bass for him in his dwell band, and likewise on his 2007 solo LP ‘The World Is Yours’, had been mates with him since he was a young person and recalled having many “stomach laughs” on the highway collectively.
Ian tweeted: “RiP ANDY ROURKE I first met Andy aged 17 @simonWolstencr1 get together. We remained buddies. One of many highlights of my music life was Andy enjoying on my The World is Yours album and accompanying me onstage on a UK tour and my first present in MOSCOW. Stomach laughs all the best way. RiP Brother X (sic)”
Manic Road Preachers wrote: “Extremely unhappy news-as a younger child his bass enjoying was distinctive and actually inspirational-condolences to his household, mates and all near him xxx.”
Confirming the unhappy information, Johnny wrote on social media: “It’s with deep unhappiness that we announce the passing of Andy Rourke after a prolonged sickness with pancreatic most cancers.
“Andy will probably be remembered as a form and delightful soul by those that knew him and as a supremely gifted musician by music followers.
“We request privateness at this unhappy time.”
Johnny shaped the ‘This Charming Man’ group with frontman Morrissey in 1982, and Andy joined after their first live performance.
Andy’s signature type was on the beating coronary heart of the legendary Manchester band’s melodic again catalogue that has gone on to encourage the likes of The Killers and The 1975.
Amongst many different musical escapades Andy Rourke shaped Blitz Vega alongside frontman and guitarist Kav Sandhu of the Blissful Mondays.
